So 2020 by all accounts was a pretty bad year, to quote her majesty from a few years ago, an “Annus Horribilis”.
In April last year I was supposed to have got married and gone to the Maldives on honeymoon – this has now been put on hold until at least 2022, possibly even later, getting the refund for the honeymoon took an age and for some parts of the wedding we ended up losing a lot of money.
At the end of February even before the lockdowns of March and beyond my mother in law who lives with us fell down the stairs and was in hospital for almost 6 weeks with Covid-19 running rampant, she’s still with us and somehow managed to avoid contracting Covid-19 which is good!
However in May my Grandads partner died of Covid-19 whilst in a nursing home, although my Grandad thankfully didn’t get Covid-19 he went down hill from that point and he himself died in November.
Then my own partner who is self employed was unable to work for almost 3 months during the first lock down, and once again has had to shut up shop, unfortunately she was unable to claim any of the assistance grants/loans because her business hasn’t been registered for long enough and doesn’t have the required proof of turnover!
All in all a horrible year last year, and the beginning of 2021 is not looking much better right now!
